Top Tips
This airport has a good rating among travelers especially since the WiFi is free.
Most affordable parking is remote at $8/day. North and South lots with shuttle to terminals. No Cellphone lot and $2 minimum fee to enter toll gate and drive through airport to make a pick-up. $1 with automated Toll Tag.
Terminal D: Checkpoint No. 22 gets very busy between 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. To avoid the chaos, gates can be accessed from any terminal checkpoint. in a flash, you can enter any terminal and take the bi-directional Skylink train to your terminal.
Taxi cost $40 flat rate (1st person) to Dallas Central Business District. $43 flat rate (1st person) to Fort Worth Central Business District. Both distances are approximately half an hour ride.
The most affordable way out is via Trinity Railway Express (TRE) or DART bus. Both require transfers/or shuttle bus connection. The ride is pretty long however to Dallas or Fort Worth downtown areas and cost $3.50; DART $1.75.
What better way to wait for your flight than sitting on one of seventeen electric-massage chairs which include power outlets and music.
There are free Samsung Theaters at International Terminal D which have multiple big-screen TVs playing movies and TV shows. Each theater has a dozen leather chairs with headphone jacks and monitor controls.
Don't stress about your pets as Paradise 4 Paws offers 24-hour overnight accommodations, doggie daycare and other services.
So you have a long layover. Check out the 36-hole Bear Creek Golf Course which is on DFW property. The American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum is minutes from the airport. Founder's Plaza is a six-acre park/observation area northwest of the airport.
There are several great options for local food but if you'd like me to suggest one, Texas Stadium Skybox (A10, B6, C25) is a great choice.
