Top Tips
1 Free WiFi, working desks with outlets and charging stations are all across the airport.
2 Take a taxi to downtown and it will cost you 45 to 50 dollars.
3 From 12-3 pm, the International Terminal, A gates and from 6 to 9 am. on weekdays, the domestic terminal checkpoints are extremely busy. To avoid this, use the Terminal 3 and G-side International gates which connect to a a post-security corridor. The A-side International gates can only be accessed via security. 4 Check out the museum program which features concurrent exhibitions in 20 galleries across the airport.
5 If you're staying in San Francisco, consider the Oakland airport: it's far less crowded. If you're staying in Silicon Valley, the San Jose airport is likewise preferable. Neither of them have as many flights, of course.
6 If you are on layover, check out The Burlingame Museum of Pez Memorabilia just south of the airport and reachable by public transportation.
7 Another great layover suggestion is Candlestick Point Recreation area which is a few minutes drive or Downtown San Francisco is 40 minutes away via BART .
8 The most affordable way to get out of the airport is SamsTrans bus, to downtown San Francisco for $5. It takes 30 minutes. BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) goes downtown, for about $8. It takes 35 minutes.
9 Valet parking in the domestic garage cost, $38/first 24 hours, $45 each additional 24 hours. Domestic garage, $36/day; international garage, $28/day. Most affordable is the Long-term lot which cost $18/day.
10 There is a cell phone lot at 806 South Airport Blvd. which is Closed 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. It is equipped with a flight arrival information kiosk and a drink vending machine.
